Ducati forlader Superbike-VM

2010-08-27 Ducati vil fremover koncentrere deres tekniske ressourcer på at udvikle nye modeller, og de stiller derfor ikke op med et fabriksteam i Superbike-VM i 2011.



Så revnede ballonen! Rygter om Ducati's exit fra Superbike har løbet de seneste par måneder, og fredag blev de bekræftet af nedenstående pressemeddelelse fra Borgo Panigale:

Ducati, having participated with a factory team in every
edition of the World Superbike Championship since it began in 1988, winning 16 Manufacturers' world titles and 13 Riders' world titles along the way, has decided to limit its participation to the supply of machines and support to private teams.

- This decision is part of a specific strategy made by Ducati, the aim being to further increase technological content in production models that will arrive on the market in the coming years. In order to achieve this objective, the company's technical resources, until now engaged with the management of the factory Superbike team, will instead be dedicated to the development of the new generation of hypersport bikes, in both their homologated and Superbike race versions," declared Gabriele Del Torchio, President and CEO of Ducati.

- I would like to thank Nori and Michel, and all of the riders that have contributed to the great history of Ducati in Superbike, but above all the Ducati employees; it is their hard work and professionalism that
has allowed us to achieve such important results. A big thank you also to all of the partners that have supported us, first and foremost Xerox of course. I would also like to acknowledge the Flammini brothers
who have managed the championship for so long, and the FIM, the organization with which we have continuous, constructive relations.

By making this important decision Ducati aims to increase the speed and efficiency with which it transfers advanced technological solutions, currently tested in the prototype championship, to the production series. The task of testing innovative technical solutions in Superbike racing will therefore be entrusted to external teams in the coming years, teams that will have the chance to receive technical support from Ducati personnel. This choice will allow the teams to benefit from even more competitive machines and parts.

Despite the decision to interrupt its official participation in the World Superbike Championship, Ducati will continue to work, in collaboration with the championship organizers, other manufacturers and the FIM, to define a technical regulation aimed at containing costs.
Strong in the sporting spirit that has always allowed this manufacturer to compete, line-up against its rivals, and win, it is fundamental for Ducati to identify, together with the other interested parties, solutions that can guarantee the future of the championship in the medium-long term.

Recently the Superbike World Championship, according to the current regulations, has been interpreted as moving more towards competition between prototypes rather than for bikes derived from production
machines. This has led to an increase in costs, both for the manufacturers and the teams participating in the championship. This picture does not correlate with the current worldwide economic situation, which has made the securing of sponsorship even more difficult. Ducati trusts that the work carried out by all
parties will lead to improvement also in this area.

2010-08-29 08:59 Af: HrJensen Beslutningen er dårlig for Superbike; Ducati's fabrikshold løfter altid et felt, selv i en sæson som denne, hvor teamet ikke helt har tidligere tiders styrke; bedst placerede Ducati kører lige nu kører faktisk for et privat team! Men Ducati skal nok komme tilbage igen.

2010-08-29 10:55 Af: MOTO Som tilskuere har vi nok været forkælet, hvad angår DUCATI og SBK, men alt godt kommer til en ende, og Haga & Fabrizio har ikke kunnet løfte "arven" efter Troy Bayliss, og Troy Bayliss kommer ikke tilbage - det siger sig selv. DUCATI & SBK er slut - indtil videre, men jeg tror ikke længere på DUCATI's V-2 mod Aprilias V-4 og japanernes række 4 cyl. DUCATI kan ganske enkelt ikke banke flere heste ud af den V-2 - de er ikke konkurrencedygtige, og så mangler de desuden en super pilot, som et minimum. Skulle DUCATI komme tilbage i SBK, så må det nødvendigvis blive med en SBK udgave af Moto GP typen, Desmosedici. V-2 modellen vil sikkert fortsat kunne ses i Superstock 1.000. Jeg forestiller mig derfor, fremover, DUCATI's V-2 maskiner, som en mere gadebetonet model og Desmosedici (V-4) til race i både Moto GP og SBK. Da DUCATI byggede og producerede Desmosedici i ca. 4-500 eks. ville den have været oplagt til SBK, og den ville, som i Moto GP, virkelig have været en vinder IMO. DUCATI har sovet i timen, de har hvilet på lauerbærrene for længe, de har ikke engang formået at udnytte deres eget materiel, og nu betaler de prisen, hvilket ikke alene er skidt for deres image, men også for salget af V-2 Superbike gade maskinerne. Nu vil DUCATI så bruge kræfterne på at fremstille og udvikle den nye generation af Hyper Sport Bikes - forhåbningsvis med en V-4 i.

2010-09-06 15:34 Af: gummigeden sjovt nok kommer denne nyhed kort tid efter offentligørelsen af Rossi som motogp kører hos Ducati de næste 2 år. måske er hans hyre så høj at der ikke er råd til WSB!

2010-09-08 11:32 Af: Klavs_Lyngfeldt Såvidt jeg er orienteret, betaler sponsorerne Rossis hyre. Jeg tror snarere, at Ducati med deres SBK-exit vil frigøre flest mulige ressourcer til at bygge den optimale MotoGP-racer.
